Stunning antique sauce tureen and cover, part of a tableware range, porcelain with painted and gilded decoration, shape designed by Christian Joachim, decorated by Arno Malinowski, manufactured by Royal Copenhagen, Denmark, 1925. The same tureen presented in V&A South Kensington. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Porcelain sauce tureen and cover with a stem base, two handles and oval stand, each handle has a stylised crest appendage at the bottom, a knob of similar design surmounted on the cover; decorated with painted birds and plants and gilding. Turin: 25.5 × 19.5 cm (10.0 × 7.7 inches) Height without lid: 15.3 cm (6.0 inches) From handle to handle: 29.5 cm (11.6 inches) Height with lid: 26.5 cm (10.4 inches) Oval stand: 29 × 22 cm (11.4 × 8.7 inches) Minor damage is only on the lid handle; everything else is in perfect condition.
